A recent customer of ours requested a custom storage solution for his snowmobile. One that is durable, weatherproof, lockable for security, could store multiple fishing rods and other gear, and be attached or removed from the snowmobile easily.

Our Custom Fabrication Process

At our shop, we take pride in our work and pay close attention to detail. When we received the request for this unique metal storage box for a snowmobile, we got right to work. Our process included:

• Discussing design preferences with our customer

• Measuring the specific dimensions for location of the installed box

• Digitally creating the technical drawings with CAD software

• And fabricating each custom part

When fully assembled, the final product takes form while each part comes together with custom welding or fasteners. Each project has to meet functional needs while also looking great.

This particular project required durability and weather resistance, given the extreme conditions of Northern Minnesota and bumpy rides on the trail. It also has to hold necessary ice fishing gear, so we built a custom rod holder under the lid along with flexible compartment space in the box and the ability to strap gear to the outside of the lid. We used high-quality materials such as aluminum construction for the box and lid while stainless steel hardware was custom built as well, to remain durable during heavy use in sub-zero temperatures and also prevent corrosion caused by wet conditions.
