Custom Outdoor Kitchen at a Northwoods Lake Home

We had the privilege of collaborating with a Northern MN building contractor to custom build the metal cabinetry for an incredible outdoor kitchen. And we didn't stop there - we also made a custom matching faceplate for the fireplace to complete the design theme.

A custom project of this scale takes skillful planning and design due to not only fabricating one custom metal part, but many unique custom components, that need to fit together perfectly when installed.

Like all new custom builds, we discuss the scope of the project and stay in communication with the customer making sure the right metals are used, the design is correct, and all onsite measurements are taken. Then, we design each component to scale using CAD and we can also provide photorealistic mock-ups to help the customer get a feel for how the final result will look.

Capturing the traditional design of a northwoods cabin while having luxurious modern amenities, the outdoor kitchen structure features a beautiful stone fireplace, rustic wood beams, and flagstone flooring. It's an incredible gathering place for entertaining, or a cozy spot for relaxing by the fireplace. The custom fabricated metal cabinetry in a hand brushed black patina is the perfect complement to the architecture and space.

Every detail was considered - we even fabricated the custom metal cabinet pulls for the hinged doors along with a solution for the hidden built-in refrigerator behind a custom door with vent holes.

Many different techniques of fabrication took place on this project. From laser cutting, to bending, roll forming, welding, surface finishing, and applying the patina to transform the metal into something beautiful.

This outdoor kitchen area has incredible views of nature and the ability to block the wind (and bugs) during precious summer days in Minnesota. But, everything within the space would still have to contend with the sub-zero Minnesota winters.

The custom components that we fabricated from steel will ensure a long-lasting and durable final product that will be enjoyed for many years to come.
